The Fine Cheese Co. Packaging Design

So, I was in Whole Foods the other day and ended up buying way too many things, which is really no different than any other day there.  And I saw these two little packages just waiting for me to buy them.  I love this packaging design.  It's one of those that I think, "why didn't I think of that"!  I ended up buying them, even though they were $6 each!  Oh, so cute though and they added some inspiration for the day, which I think is worth it!  They have other yummy things here.

Short, Tailored Wedding Dresses

This, to me, is the epitome of a perfect wedding dress.  I think these
dresses are absolutely perfect for the big day.  I think my wedding
might be a little too formal for a short dress, but I do think these are amazing!

Milan Dolly Couture Dress

And this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't include
 the lovely Audrey Hepburn!

I am dying over this one.  Oh, there aren't words to describe how
perfect this dress is!  I'm not sure I can live without it.

Are you there, Summer? Its me, Megan.

Hello my lovely readers.  I have to admit, today I'm feeling a little uninspired and am being a bit of a debbie downer.  Between the slush, snow and lack of Vitamin D, I'm feeling like summer will never come.  I think what I need is a little reminder of happy days in the sun.  Here are some  photos of my friends and I sailing on Lake Michigan last September.  Oh, how I love Chicago in the summer...

Inspiration Board for Nicole and Eddie

My very dear friend, Nicole, will be marrying her high school sweetheart this November.  I can hardly contain my excitement for their wedding as I not only get to be a part of the big day, I get to design their invitations!  I've put together an inspiration board based on Nicole's vision for their day.

Designs on Minted

I'm sure most of you have heard of Minted by now.  Minted is a great stationary design company that allows independent designers to upload their designs to sell on their website.  It is full of very talented designers and is a never ending source of inspiration.

I submitted my first personal stationary design just recently.  I sure do love lace.

j'adore garance doré

I am absolutely, positively, in love with this blog.  Her illustrations are to die for.  I'm a sucker for a good line drawing, but these are beyond wonderful!  I would love to have these three hanging in my home.  The negative space it creates and the weights of the lines are just perfect.  Not to mention her unique take on fashion and style.  amazing.  Maybe in my next life I will be French...only if we could all be that lucky.

Wedding Inspiration

I know I've only been engaged for a week (ok, not quite a week), but can't a girl look?

I'm drooling over these photos.  I'll be using most of these for inspiration.

Most of these images came from 100 Layer Cake.  The second one from the left came from An Apple A Day This one is my favorite, she is quite talented!

Chalkboard Love

I have a new found love of chalkboards.  I find myself wanting to paint everything with chalkboard paint!  I think it is the way it reminds me of being a kid, but also I love seeing hand written notes all over the place (have I mentioned how much I love hand written type?).  I decided to make my own chalkboard to hang over our bed.  I saw this project somewhere in blog land, but can't remember where.
Directions are below:

To make a long story short- Last year my boyfriend and I had a flood in our condo and the whole place had to be gutted and redone.  Our contractors gave us extra cabinet doors, just in case any of them were scratched.  Attempting to be crafty, I decided to use one to make our chalkboard.

You will want to start out by taping off the part you want to paint the chalkboard on.  We had to do three coats of white and two coats of the chalkboard paint.

Here is the finished product!  Please excuse the rest of our bedroom, I'm still in the process of decorating.

It looks like I'll be designing my own invitations!

Norm proposed on Friday!  He made a sign for our dog, Tootsie, which said "Will You Marry Us?”  I was completely surprised and loved the creative way he did it.  We feel very blessed, and are just thrilled!  I can't believe how lucky I am to find such a wonderful person to spend my life with.

Here is a picture I took right after the big surprise!
More wedding details to come!

Craft Day!

Two weeks ago I had my dear friends come over for craft day!  We started the day with brunch, mimosas and coffee.  Then we got down to business and started crafting.  You can take a look at the projects below!

The first craft of the day was first-aid kits for Haiti.  We wrapped up band-aids, combs, soap, gauze, toothbrushes, toothpaste and fingernail clippers in hand towels.  I can get the name of the church we dropped them off at, if you would like to contribute as well.
Here is the happy bunch!

Next we made little bowls out of doilies.  I can thank Kristin for this fantastic idea; she mentioned she used doilies instead of fabric.  I thought this option made sense because I didn't know what fabric people would prefer.  Here they are drying on the porch.

We then had a jewelry-making lesson from Kathryn!  Kathryn is a very talented jewelry maker and (hopefully) will have an etsy store in the near future...more to come on that!
Here are our creations!

Next we did our own version of "bunting".  Bora came up with an amazing idea to use old cards from family and friends.  You then cut them into different shapes and hang them together.  The traditional way is to sew pieces of fabric together.  I can't even sew on a button, so this was out of the question!
Below are photos:

I love the handwritten notes on them!

Let me know if you want directions to do any of these projects.  I'll be happy to write them out so you can diy!  I'll leave you with this pretty picture of the flowers I arranged for craft day!
